More than recycling — a documented exit for every asset

IT asset disposition (ITAD) is the structured process of retiring technology assets in a way that's secure, auditable, and financially accountable — from a single office refresh to a full data-center decommission.

Retire servers, laptops, and office technology the auditable way. Recyclebyte manages the full ITAD lifecycle for LA organizations — documented chain-of-custody from your dock, NIST 800-88 data sanitization, value recovery where assets still hold worth, and an itemized disposition report your finance team can file.

Recycling answers "where did the equipment go?" ITAD also answers "which equipment, whose data was on it, what was it worth, and who handled it at every step." Recyclebyte manages that entire chain for Los Angeles organizations — so equipment leaves your books as cleanly as it leaves your building.

  • Documented custody. Equipment moves under chain-of-custody from your dock to final disposition.
  • Certified data sanitization. NIST 800-88 wiping or shredding for every storage device.
  • Value recovery. Assets with remaining worth are routed to reuse or resale — offsetting your project cost.
  • Audit-ready reporting. Itemized final disposition report delivered within 5 business days.

Retired doesn't always mean worthless

Late-model laptops, servers, and networking gear often hold real resale value. As part of every ITAD engagement, we identify assets with remaining worth and route them to reuse or resale — which can offset, and sometimes cover, the cost of your project.

Everything else is responsibly recycled under our CalRecycle registration, with weight-based documentation for your CSR and sustainability reporting. Either way, every asset's outcome appears in your final report.

Reuse

Working assets redeployed or resold after certified data sanitization.

Resale

Recovered value credited against your engagement cost.

Recycle

End-of-life material processed responsibly — zero landfill for accepted items.

Report

Per-asset outcomes documented in your itemized disposition report.

IT asset disposition questions

What's the difference between ITAD and electronics recycling?+

Recycling is one possible outcome for a retired device. ITAD is the full management process around retirement: chain-of-custody, certified data destruction, value recovery for assets worth reselling, responsible recycling for the rest, and an itemized report documenting each asset's outcome. If your organization needs to prove what happened to its equipment — for audits, compliance, or finance — you need ITAD, not just recycling.

How much does ITAD cost in Los Angeles?+

It depends on volume, equipment type, and the level of data destruction required. Value recovery works in your favor: assets with resale value are credited against the engagement, and can offset — sometimes fully cover — project cost. Tell us what you're retiring and we'll quote most engagements within one business day.

How is our data protected during the ITAD process?+

Assets travel under documented chain-of-custody from your dock onward. Every storage device is sanitized to NIST 800-88 standards by software wiping or physical shredding — with witnessed destruction available at our Sylmar facility. Each device receives a Certificate of Destruction supporting HIPAA, SOX, GLBA, and FACTA compliance.

Can you handle a full data-center decommission?+

Yes. We handle rack-level teardowns, server and storage-array disposition, tape and media destruction, and large-scale office or warehouse decommissions across Greater Los Angeles. Our crews work around your building access and security requirements, and a Certificate of Recycling is provided on-site at pickup.

What documentation do we receive?+

A complimentary Certificate of Recycling at pickup, Certificates of Destruction for every storage device, full chain-of-custody records, and an itemized final disposition report — delivered within 5 business days of processing.

Do you serve all of Los Angeles?+

Yes — we're based in Sylmar and serve the entire Greater Los Angeles region, including the San Fernando Valley, Downtown LA, the Westside, the San Gabriel Valley, Long Beach, and Ventura County. Scheduled pickups work around your operation, with no minimums.
